Ilocos Norte's 2.8 Billion COVID-19 Rehabilitation and Recovery Plan highlighted at ExeCom meeting

The Provincial Development Council (PDC) of Ilocos Norte highlighted the more than P2.8 Billion allotment for the province's COVID-19 Rehabilitation and Recovery Program (RRP) on July 10 during the PDC Executive Committee Meeting at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall.

Among the RRP components under the Provincial Health Office include the procurement of COVID-19 vaccine, purchase of medical and testing equipment, provision of information materials, funding of specific training programs, and budget for compensation and benefits of health workers, among others.

Moreover, the Provincial Information Technology Office will invest in improving communication, surveillance, and monitoring services. Likewise, the Provincial Assessor Office and Provincial Engineering Office have an allocated budget for the site and construction of isolation and quarantine facilities.

The Provincial Agriculture Office and Provincial Veterinary Office also have their various rehabilitation programs for farming and fishing communities while the Provincial Public Employment Group presented several economic rehabilitation plans through cash-for-work and livelihood assistance programs.

Furthermore, the Provincial Tourism Office funded the employment program for tourism frontliners and heritage and cultural workers; the employment and online education programs of the Ilocos Norte Youth Development Office were similarly allotted with a budget.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Action Plan for the "Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa" Program of the National Government was included in the agenda.

Under its "Balik Probinsiya," the Provincial Government focused on empowering local industries through enterprise growth and access to credit and finance; ensuring food security and agricultural productivity by boosting rural development; and providing housing, social welfare, health, employment, and human resources development.

The meeting ended with the presentation of the draft PDC Executive Committee Resolution No. 1, s. 2020 short titled "A Resolution Adopting the Supplemental Provincial Development Investment Program 2018-2020 No. 2 and CY 2020 Supplemental Annual Investment Program No. 2 of the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte."
